Nothing kills creative energy like brute force. You can’t force inspiration. You can’t force a new idea or a new design or a poem or a recipe. You can’t force that lightbulb moment. What you can do is keep yourself open to to Spirit so that when it comes, you are ready for it. What does that mean? It means being in a good headspace. It means not letting yourself get bogged down with drama and bad energy, negative people, and negative thoughts. It’s about taking a deep breath and being grateful.  It’s about taking care of yourself inside and out.

Creativity is a practice, it can be developed. There is more than one way to be creative. Maybe you’re a writer and you are staring a blank page with no words in sight. Practice creativity in a new way, draw something, doodle, color. Walk through a greenhouse and smell every flower, hell, smell the dirt.  Bake a beautifully perfect scone and eat it slowly with a cup of coffee, savoring every bite. The point is, creativity is a lifestyle. We are all natural born creators, it’s what we are here to do. It doesn’t matter what our medium of choice is. It doesn’t matter if we’re good at it. There is joy in creating. Because when you are creating you are in flow, you are aligned with Spirit.

When you find yourself stuck, when you are struggling to find the words or the new idea, be patient with yourself. Take a deep breath and clear your mind. Spirit is waiting to co-create with us, we just need to remove the garbage and make space for that energy to flow.

Love,
Lee
